erhu plus black metal... sounds interesting. sadly, though, i've never really managed to get into metal of any sort. well, not since my teenage Metallica obsession anyway... and i imagine 'tallica counts as metal in much the same way Marilyn Manson counts as industrial.
Black metal is an acquired taste, like absinthe or scotch.
Metallica counts as metal. Old Metallica, at least. And they're still a force to be reckoned with as a live band. Still a far cry from black metal though.
The analogy to MM I think is interesting but ultimately fails because the "real" industrial kids pretty much always viewed him as a poseur and looked on with scorn. Metallica is currently reviled in the metal community because they used to be so exalted and fell so far. Having your heroes betray you tends to breed some serious bitterness.
