thraxil.org:

sign your email

this sort of thing would be less of a problem if people would get in the habit of digitally signing their email (with PGP, or GPG). identity theft is becoming a very serious problem. there isn't much you can do to prevent someone from getting your social security number and messing with your finances, but signing your email will at least help protect your reputation. lately, i've even been toying with the idea of adding support for PGP signatures to thraxil. i just haven't quite worked out how to make it not break with some of thraxil's auto-formatting and HTML-sanitizing magic.

Do you think a signature feature is really necessary for thraxil users? Is there anyone of the readers, commenters who a) would want to trash somebody's reputation by posting under his/her name and also b) has the ability and c) time to falsify a post under someone else's name? Ability abounds, I know, but desire? Well, all in the name of a puzzle, i suppose, but aren't the odds vanishingly small?
oh, i'm sure it's not necessary for thraxil. i just think it's an interesting idea. it would really only be very useful if every site supported it and every user utilized it. so if i ever implement it, it will mostly be as an attempt to start a trend.
