Excellent explanation. Unfortunate most users will not understand the importance of this. People today seem to always think that email works, and assumes that it *will* always work. From most ordinary users' experiential point of view, there aren't many times when individual emails fail to deliver. However, people, especially in the business world, begin to yell in frustration when the entire Internet connectivity or email servers go down. These would be the kind of issues people generally care about.
