who wants to be president?

watching the presidential and vice-presidential debates with all the rules, time limits, lights, and buzzers, it occurs to me that our presidential election has been turned into a televised game show.

Whereas I agree that the vice-presidential moderator's one-question rule about not naming their running mate was akin to Jeopardy's answer-with-a-question retardedness, on the whole I would say its the most substantive aspect of the elections. The debates might have rules which fit better in the context of a televised time-slot, but the rules for negotiating and moderating treaties are just as arbitrary. This is probably the one time we get to see the candidates under any real pressure by direct challengers.
of course, didn't you watch Ferenheit 9/11? Isn't all just a show for all to see.
