The weird thing, at least as far as I'm concerned, is that yesterday the subject line didn't look like that. How come? Also, how do I make the clickable link, then, if I don't follow the formula above? (Yeah, yeah, I'm a dumbie. Bear with.)
that's because i fixed it. now it fully escapes subject lines to prevent it from screwing the page up. it only worked the other day because i'd been sloppy with my code.
for regular posts, you <em>shouldn't</em> try to make the subject into a link because it already is a link to that post.
what you probably wanted was a bookmark. to add a bookmark, you would use the 'post bookmark' form on the post page and just fill in the proper url, title, and description.
