cringely has a tendency to go way off the deep end. he is also pretty good at making it explicitly clear that he lacks a firm grasp on networking and OS technology.
Therefore there's nothing to worry about, and microsoft is looking out for our interests. Coool.
<sarah pats her mac grinningly.>
microsoft isn't about to win any nobel peace prizes any time soon, but it doesn't make any sense to go around spouting wild, exaggerated, unjustified conjecture like cringely does. if anything, he just helps out microsoft. when everyone reads his theories that microsoft is going to send all the linux programmers to the gas chambers and then microsoft merely sends all the linux programmers to "reeducation" camps, people will say "gee, i guess microsoft isn't that bad after all." there are plenty of perfectly good reasons to dislike microsoft and not use their products. we don't need to start making up fake ones.
bummer... I feel like a junior trout who needs her diapers changed.
also interesting to note is that cringely doesn't exist.
