They went and boldly made another Star Trek series, staring Scott Bakula. We're not up to 1071 posts on the THRAXIL, but that's partly my fault. If any of you are not watching the pilot right now, know that you're missing it. If you're a nerd, hang your head in shame - I know I am. A friend had a good idea of making a drinking game to go with the pilot. A Quantum Leap reference in particular would require a substantial amount of drinking.

Trekkie: Isn't the registry number for the Enterprise "1701" and not "1071" ?
Me: You're right! I must not know my Star Trek!
Trekkie: Where did you get that strange tan line on your chest?
Me: Oh, it's from my chin because I hang my head in shame all the time.
Trekkie: As well you should.

Trevor your powers of self-depreciation are almost as adept as mine. You should be proud for being almost as pathetic as me ... it takes effort. :)

Sigh. I've seen pictures and descriptions of the Vulcan they're having on there. It should go to witness that the only pictures they had available for her were from Maxim, and the article described her as "intelligent, yet sensual". What the fuck happened to Vulcans?

What is a Scott Bakula? I've heard of a bukula, though I've never spelled it, that was an early electronic noise box. Is Scott an early electronic noise?
As for tan lines, I thought geeks and vampires don't tan.

Don't forget Goth's ... gotta keep that milky skin so it contrasts the black covenant/type O/cradle of filth shirt ever so nicely. :)

actually, sarah, you'd be surprised at the healthy glow a geek's skin can take on after months spent basking in the warm light of a CRT.

be it ever so blue...
damn, now i have to buy a cradle of filth tshirt. who is cradle of filth?
a scott bakula (pronounced like Dracula, dr -> b) is a former star of long running prime time scifi show "quantum leap" and many other moving picture presentations.
it might be spelt "buccala" after the base "buccal" meaning related to the oral cavity. i think bell made an instrument based on that concept, to imitate speach.

CoF is the cacophonous death-goth band that's been with us since the early-mid 90's. They advertise vampyresque women feeding on men, lustfully screaming throughout the albums with their troll lead-singer sating their desires. They predominantly focus on ambiance and their lyrical content tends to focus on the darker and less pleasurable parts of life and/or unlife. Whereas Covenant is your techno-goth, and Type O is your metal-goth, CoF is your Death-Goth.
Don't make me go on a rant about Goth's again ;-). Albeit of all the sociopaths out there Goth's have to be my favorite group, I still have issues with them.
But as far as Star Trek goes ... hope its good. I'll catch it in reruns when I'm 40 and fat and eating pork rhinds and drinking cheap domestic bear and finally have cable (by then I'll probably have a TV in my apartment as well :)
Oh did I mention I would live in a trailer park with a camaro up on blocks out back?? =)

Anders, only a cut rate geek would resort to a CRT, right? And I DID have to look up what a CRT is, so I'm hanging my head in shame. Would not the geek, worthy of her vowels, on the edge use only an LCD screen?
anders pearson - Wed 26 Sep 2001 17:15:46
actually, this geek has a projector. 84 inches (that's 2.1 meters for the rest of the world) of luminous glory. LCD's are for sissies.
well, i have have an LCD at work. i guess that means that i'm part sissy. during the day.
actually, other than the projector, most of my hardware is old and slow. but it runs linux faster than new machines run windows so it's fine with me. i'm such a bad geek. i must hang my head in shame.
